Cambios en MeSH 2010

Tomado sin cambios.

El pasado 2 de diciembre se publicó el Boletín Técnico de la NLM donde se informa de los cambios previstos en Medline para el año 2010. El principal cambio será en el tesauro MeSH.

El actual navegador MeSH incluye un enlace con el vocabulario para el año 2010. Además, desde el enlace “introduction to MeSH-2010” se pueden ver todos los cambios y descargar los archivos con las versiones electrónicas tras la lectura de un “memorandum of understanding”.

¿Qué novedades se presentan?

* Se añaden 442 nuevos encabezamientos: “Blogging”, “Fast Foods” y “Pleasure” son tres de los nuevos encabezamientos.
* Se cambian o eliminan 72 encabezamientos, utilizando una terminología más actualizada. Por ejemplo: “Cytology is replaced by Cell Biology” o “Mass Immunization is replaced by Mass Vaccination”.

Tapando el sol con las manos

Sin ningun tipo de agregados, me sumo contra lo irracional que resulta en plena era de la información, el querer “regular” lo que ya es patrimonio de gran parte de la humanidad. Burócratas que aún creen que la “cortina de hierro”, aun puede permanecer en pie. Podrán poner un muro en el Magreb, sitiar al pueblo Palestino, o amurallar la frontera entre Mexico y Estados Unidos, pero no podrán seguir creyendo que el invento del copyright es todavia aplicable. En este suelo de la America Latina, no todos podemos acceder a los libros, articulos y sitios que necesitamos, pero la información no para nosotros, sino para aquellos a quienes nos debemos, no puede ser acallada, ni en España ni en Argentina. Mientras los grandes medios de comunicación se ven cada vez más obligados a tener presencia en la web, la propia gente confia aún más en aquellos blogs que ofrecen seriedad. Sitios sobre medicamentos como Hemos leido, o el Supositorio, resultan más confiables que la propia FDA. Pediatria Basada en la Evidencia es hoy un blog donde se puede leer el trabajo seguramente más serio que hay sobre la pandemia de gripe en el mundo. El movimiento de Gripe y Calma, unio decenas de blogers en pos de la verguenza que la propia OMS y los gobiernos alientan con sus campañas mediáticas que aterrorizan contra la pandemia más inocua de nuestra historia. Aunque también la pandemia de pánico mas irracional que vivimos. Lo mismo vale para esto que se puede leer en el blog de Maria: o Biblioteca Medica Virtual. Y que reproduzco sin ningun agregado. Y por cierto, la era de la inquisicion, ya pasó hace un tiempo largo.

En defensa de los derechos fundamentales de Internet.

Manifiesto “En defensa de los derechos fundamentales en internet”.
Ante la inclusión en el Anteproyecto de Ley de Economía Sostenible de modificaciones legislativas que afectan al libre ejercicio de las libertades de expresión, información y el derecho de acceso a la cultura a través de Internet, los periodistas, bloggers, usuarios, profesionales y creadores de internet manifestamos nuestra firme oposición al proyecto, y declaramos que…
1.- Los derechos de autor no pueden situarse por encima de los derechos fundamentales de los ciudadanos, como el derecho a la privacidad, a la seguridad, a la presunción de inocencia, a la tutela judicial efectiva y a la libertad de expresión.
2.- La suspensión de derechos fundamentales es y debe seguir siendo competencia exclusiva del poder judicial. Ni un cierre sin sentencia. Este anteproyecto, en contra de lo establecido en el artículo 20.5 de la Constitución, pone en manos de un órgano no judicial – un organismo dependiente del ministerio de Cultura -, la potestad de impedir a los ciudadanos españoles el acceso a cualquier página web.
3.- La nueva legislación creará inseguridad jurídica en todo el sector tecnológico español, perjudicando uno de los pocos campos de desarrollo y futuro de nuestra economía, entorpeciendo la creación de empresas, introduciendo trabas a la libre competencia y ralentizando su proyección internacional.
4.- La nueva legislación propuesta amenaza a los nuevos creadores y entorpece la creación cultural. Con Internet y los sucesivos avances tecnológicos se ha democratizado extraordinariamente la creación y emisión de contenidos de todo tipo, que ya no provienen prevalentemente de las industrias culturales tradicionales, sino de multitud de fuentes diferentes.
5.- Los autores, como todos los trabajadores, tienen derecho a vivir de su trabajo con nuevas ideas creativas, modelos de negocio y actividades asociadas a sus creaciones. Intentar sostener con cambios legislativos a una industria obsoleta que no sabe adaptarse a este nuevo entorno no es ni justo ni realista. Si su modelo de negocio se basaba en el control de las copias de las obras y en Internet no es posible sin vulnerar derechos fundamentales, deberían buscar otro modelo.
6.- Consideramos que las industrias culturales necesitan para sobrevivir alternativas modernas, eficaces, creíbles y asequibles y que se adecuen a los nuevos usos sociales, en lugar de limitaciones tan desproporcionadas como ineficaces para el fin que dicen perseguir.
7.- Internet debe funcionar de forma libre y sin interferencias políticas auspiciadas por sectores que pretenden perpetuar obsoletos modelos de negocio e imposibilitar que el saber humano siga siendo libre.
8.- Exigimos que el Gobierno garantice por ley la neutralidad de la Red en España, ante cualquier presión que pueda producirse, como marco para el desarrollo de una economía sostenible y realista de cara al futuro.
9.- Proponemos una verdadera reforma del derecho de propiedad intelectual orientada a su fin: devolver a la sociedad el conocimiento, promover el dominio público y limitar los abusos de las entidades gestoras.
10.- En democracia las leyes y sus modificaciones deben aprobarse tras el oportuno debate público y habiendo consultado previamente a todas las partes implicadas. No es de recibo que se realicen cambios legislativos que afectan a derechos fundamentales en una ley no orgánica y que versa sobre otra materia.

Guias ALAD de Diagnostico y Tratamiento: Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 2

Recientemente la Federación Internacional de Diabetes (IDF) publicó una Guía Global para la diabetes tipo 2 en la cual se proponen recomendaciones para manejar la diabetes en tres niveles de atención, definidos en base a la disponibilidad de recursos que en su orden son: atención mínima, atención estándar y atención integral.
El manejo que allí se estableció para el nivel de atención estándar no difiere sustancialmente del que viene recomendando la ALAD en las guías basadas en evidencia publicadas en el año 2000. Estas, por lo tanto, siguen vigentes, especialmente para el cuidado de las personas con diabetes tipo 2 a nivel de atención primaria en toda Latinoamérica.
